Finding the Source of those Awesome Music Mixes (an investigation)

Every time I go to a Training or Jamsession, the instructor almost always starts out with an INSANE music mix. My favorite mixes start with something current (say, a Pitbull song) and then all of a sudden - bam - Pump up the Jam or Boriqua Anthem comes on... and you're suddenly dancing to an old school favorite. Not only do I love the mix of music, but it's a perfect way to get me excited for the class.

I searched far and wide for the source of this music, but couldn't find any good mixes on iTunes or on the web. After much searching, I found DJ Badmixx on Facebook - this was it! The source of so many of the mixes I've heard other instructors use! Phew.

DJ Badmixx creates customized (yes, customized!) song mixes, particularly for cardio warm-ups but you could certainly choreograph a routine to them, too. He does a great job of getting the music right, but also lists the BPMs so you can gauge how fast or slow the mix is and tailor it for your class. You can also purchase other instructors' mixes from his site if you see something ready-made that you like.

The mixes are about a dollar a minute, so a little pricier than what you would download on iTunes. In my opinion, it's a worthwhile investment to start your class off right!

You can find DJ Badmixx's music here:

  1. This is a great way to start your class! I make my own 10 minute mixes of music to get my class in the mood to party! Luckily, I was a DJ in a former life, so I have experience in correctly blending and editing songs. The ten minutes is plenty of time to get in my step-touch, toning, and cardio portions of my warmup. Having a nonstop mix is a great way to set your class apart from others.
